The Harrison County Health Department has four Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) on staff who are available to conduct carseat safety checks and to assist in proper carseat installation. We also provide rear and forward facing carseats, when available, starting at birth, to families in need. A child’s safety while in a motor vehicle is one of the Health Department’s primary concerns.
The Carseat Safety program teaches parents how to safely install a carseat in their vehicle and how to fasten their child in it properly.

Did you know?
Carseats have an expiration date 6-10 years after the manufacture date, not the date of purchase. The exact lifespan depends on the brand and model. Always check the label on the seat for the date. They should NEVER be used after the expiration date. Hand-me-downs or “garage sale” carseats are highly discouraged due to the carseat’s unknown history.
