Immunizations

Vaccines For Children (VFC)

The Harrison County Health Department offers immunizations to all age groups starting at birth. Vaccines are provided to children aged 18 and under through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program. We offer vaccines on Thursday without appointment and Monday through Wednesday and Friday by appointment. VFC covers children that have Medicaid, are uninsured or whose insurance does not pay for vaccinations. Remember that we can no longer use State-purchases vaccine to immunize children with health insurance or individuals with co-pays or high deductibles. Please check your insurance benefits to see what vaccines may or may not be covered under your plan.

It is very important that parents follow through with their children’s vaccinations in order to effectively prevent the spread of disease. The HCHD works closely with area daycare facilities and schools to ensure that students are properly and completely vaccinated according to the regulations set forth by the the State of Missouri.

VaxCare

Starting March 1, 2019 the Harrison County Health Department can bill most health insurance companies for immunizations through VaxCare. For those insurance clients requesting vaccinations and their carrier is not listed on the VaxCare approved list, you will have the opportunity to get the immunization under a self-pay category.
