The Harrison County Health Department has two Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technicians on staff who are available to conduct carseat safety checks and to assist in proper carseat installation. We also provide rear and forward facing carseats, when available, starting at birth, to families in need. At this time we are not able to provide infant carseat carriers. A child’s safety while in a motor vehicle is one of the Health Department’s primary concerns.
The Carseat Safety program teaches parents how to safely install a carseat in their vehicle and how to fasten their child in it properly.

Did you know?
Carseats have an expiration date six (6) years after the manufacture date. They should NEVER be used after that date. Hand-me-downs or “garage sale” carseats are highly discouraged due to the carseat’s unknown history.
